Galactomannans isolated from legume seed endosperms, including those of commercial interest, have been characterized by multidetection aqueous SEC. Galactomannans derived from seeds of the Faboideae subfamily had substantially higher Mw than those from Caesalpinioideae seeds (Mw,Fab = 2.4–3.1 × 106 g/mol, Mw,Caes. = 0.86–2.1 × 106 g/mol) and within the latter botanical subfamily, an apparent correlation between Mw and the degree of galactose substitution DG was found. The molar mass distributions were unimodal and differed primarily by a scale factor, with distributional widths narrower than a true Flory ‘most-probable distribution’; good fits to Schulz–Zimm model were obtained. Across subfamilies no differences were found in the exponents of [η]–M and RvM relationships (0.61 ± 0.02, 0.54 ± 0.01, respectively), the Flory chain stiffness ratio (C = 20 ± 1 (BSF analysis)), or the persistence length (Lp = 5.5 ± 0.2 nm) obtained from SEC fraction data. However, it was found that prefactors in the [η]–M and RvM relationships as well as the unperturbed parameter KΘ decrease in proportion to DG and therefore chain density. Generalized relationships incorporating galactose-dependent prefactors were therefore developed to model SEC fraction data of native galactomannans ([η]GM = (1800 ± 200) × Mo−1.61 × M0.61±0.02, Rv,GM = 0.63 ± 0.05 × Mo−0.54 × M0.54±0.01) as well as lower-M fractions obtained by ultrasonication ([η]GM = (730 ± 100) × Mo−1.71 × Mw0.71±0.02, Rv,GM = 0.49 ± 0.05 × Mo−0.57 × Mw0.57±0.01, M ≈ 1 × 105-native). As a consequence of this dependence and the observed patterns in molar mass variation, [η] varies within a narrow range for galactomannans as a whole despite substantial Mw differences.  相似文献

Abstract

In the present study, cotton fabric nanocomposites with in situ generated copper nanoparticles (CuNPs) were prepared using Cassia alata leaf extract as reducing agent. The prepared cotton fabric nanocomposites were characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), and scanning electron microscoy (SEM) techniques. The cotton fabric nanocomposites exhibited significant antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli bacteria. These nanocomposites retained the antibacterial activity even after 15 washes indicating the generation of permanent CuNPs in them. The antibacterial activity of the nanocomposites prepared even in sewerage water was also studied. The obtained results suggest that the cotton fabric nanocomposites with in situ generated CuNPs can be considered for medical and water treatment applications.  相似文献

Antifeedant and larvicidal activities of rhein (1,8-dihydroxyanthraquinone-3-carboxylic acid) isolated from the ethyl acetate extract of Cassia fistula flower were studied against lepidopteron pests Spodoptera litura and Helicoverpa armigera. Significant antifeedant activity was observed against H. armigera (76.13%) at 1000 ppm concentration. Rhein exhibited larvicidal activity against H. armigera (67.5), S. litura (36.25%) and the LC50 values was 606.50 ppm for H. armigera and 1192.55 ppm for S.litura. Species of the subtribe Cassiinae present a wide diversity of floral types. Until recently it was considered that this diversity did not extend to their reproductive mechanisms. However, studies have recorded some variations in the enantiostylous pattern in this plant group. This study aims to investigate the morphological and functional variations of enantiostyly in species of the subtribe Cassiinae. Additionally, it proposes the recognition of enantiostylous types (ET) based on pollen deposition and capture mode. Morphological data were collected in fresh and fixed (alcohol 70%) buds and flowers, and also using photos and rehydrated material from herbarium sheets, for a total of 59 species. The parameters used to establish the ETs were pollination type, nature of pollen deposition on the pollinator body, deposition type, number of petals involved in pollen deposition, and pollen pathway. Morpho‐functional features allowed the recognition of seven enantiostylous types (Flexuosa, Cana, Macranthera, Martiana, Amiciella, Repens and Ramosa) that present several levels of complexity. The type Ramosa was the most common and the Cana type was the least common. The types Repens, Martiana and Flexuosa do not have reciprocal pollen deposition, thus species with these types may be considered atypical. The groups resulting from similarity analysis partially coincide with the clades proposed in phylogenetic studies of Cassiinae. The recognition of functional ETs is important for understanding the evolution of reproductive strategies of Cassiinae species, and indicates an interesting line of investigation of enantiostyly in other plant groups.  相似文献

目的:探究决明子水煎液复合4周游泳训练对小鼠抗疲劳能力的影响。方法:将40只雄性ICR小鼠随机分为4组,每组10只。对照组每天灌胃20 ml蒸馏水,连续4周;运动组是在对照组的基础上增加了运动干预;决明子组每天灌胃20 ml剂量为1 mg/ml的决明子水煎液;决明子运动组在决明子组的基础上增加了运动干预,运动干预为4周的无负重游泳训练。观察小鼠的力竭游泳运动时间、RMR、SOD、MDA和GSH-Px水平。采用One-Way ANOVE对所得数据进行组间比较,多重比较采用S-N-K法。结果:小鼠的RMR、SOD、MDA和GSH-Px水平在组间存在显著性差异(P<0.05),力竭游泳运动时间存在着极显著性差异(P< 0.01);力竭游泳运动时间、GSH-Px和SOD水平在不同组间的排序为对照组<运动组<决明子组<决明子运动组,MDA水平的排序为决明子运动组<决明子组<运动组<对照组,RMR的排序为决明子组<决明子运动组或对照组<对照组或运动组(P<0.05)。结论:决明子的药物作用和运动训练的刺激都能够不同程度地提高机体的抗疲劳能力,单一手段干预时决明子优于4周游泳训练,复合干预总体上优于单一手段的干预效果。  相似文献

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Determining the mode of action of allelochemicals is one of the challenging aspects in allelopathic studies. Recently, allelochemicals have been proposed to cause oxidative stress in target tissue and induce an antioxidant mechanism. alpha-Pinene, one of the common monoterpenoids emitted from several aromatic plants including forest trees, is known for its growth-inhibitory activity. However, its mechanism of action remains unexplored. The aim of the present study was to determine the inhibitory effect of alpha-pinene on root growth and generation of reactive oxygen species, as indicators of oxidative stress and changes in activities of antioxidant enzymes. METHODS: Effects of alpha-pinene on early root growth were studied in five test species, Cassia occidentalis, Amaranthus viridis, Triticum aestivum, Pisum sativum and Cicer arietinum. Electrolyte leakage, lipid peroxidation, hydrogen peroxide generation, proline accumulation, and activities of the enzymes superoxide dismutase (SOD), ascorbate peroxidase (APX), guaiacol peroxidase (GPX), catalase (CAT) and glutathione reductase (GR) were studied in roots of C. occidentalis. KEY RESULTS: alpha-Pinene inhibited the radicle growth of all the test species. Exposure of C. occidentalis roots to alpha-pinene enhanced solute leakage, and increased levels of malondialdehyde, proline and hydrogen peroxide, indicating lipid peroxidation and induction of oxidative stress. Activities of the antioxidant enzymes SOD, CAT, GPX, APX and GR were significantly elevated, thereby indicating the enhanced generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) upon alpha-pinene exposure. Increased levels of scavenging enzymes indicates their induction as a secondary defence mechanism in response to alpha-pinene. CONCLUSIONS: It is concluded that alpha-pinene inhibits early root growth and causes oxidative damage in root tissue through enhanced generation of ROS, as indicated by increased lipid peroxidation, disruption of membrane integrity and elevated antioxidant enzyme levels.  相似文献

以黄槐(CassiasurattensisBurm.f.)幼嫩叶片为材料,接种于MS+NAA1ppm+2,4-D1ppm+6-BA2ppm的培养基上,诱导形成两种形态的愈伤组织,即致密愈伤组织与雪花状愈伤组织.将愈伤组织转移到MS+NAA:1ppm+6-BA2ppm的分化培养基上.仅致密型愈伤组织经过球状体至不定芽途径形成大量再生植株。扫描电镜及组织细胞学观察表明,致密愈伤组织表层细胞排列紧密,有许多分生细胞团,而雪花状愈伤组织表层细胞薄壁化,分裂能力很低。球状体起源于致密愈伤组织表层的分生细胞团,其细胞有极强的分生能力,顶端可以分化发育成不定芽原基,最后形成不定芽并发育成小植株。球状体可以看成是具有形成不定芽能力的繁殖单位.  相似文献

In some parts of Karnataka and Maharashtra states (India), a leguminous undershrub, Cassia uniflora has effectively replaced the problematic weed Parthenium hysterophorus (parthenium). The studies revealed that the phenolic leachates from different parts of C. uniflora, specially from germinating seeds significantly inhibited the germination of parthenium seeds and retarded the growth of seedlings from the successfully germinated parthenium seeds. At field level, seedlings of C. uniflora outcompeted the seedlings of summer generation of parthenium causing reduction in height, dry weight and number of inflorescences of the latter which ultimately resulted in reduction of their seed output. Because of its longer life span, C. uniflora effectively prevented the establishment of parthenium plants of the winter generation in its area of growth. Results indicate that C. uniflora replaces parthenium through interference.  相似文献

The present paper describes the comparative biochemical studies in terms of quantitative analyses of carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, free amino acids, nucleic acids, minerals, ash and moisture as well as the identification of free amino acids of pollen of four species ofCassia L. (C. alata L,C. fistula L,C. occidentalis L andC. siamea Lam.). A significant variation in the chemical constituents was observed among the four species.C. occidentalis showed the highest levels of carbohydrate (15.15%) and protein (22.45%), andC. siamea had the lowest levels of carbohydrate (7.15%), lipid (6.2%) and protein (13.85%).C. alata andC. fistula showed intermediate results. However,C. alata showed the highest amount of free amino acids (3.8%) and the least of 1.42% was found inC. fistula. Thin layer chromatography (TLC) of free amino acids of the four species showed some homology in their amino acid content, of which proline, glutamic acid, methionine and phenyl-alanine were the most dominant. The level of nucleic acids and minerals was found to be comparatively low.C. siamea andC. alata showed an exceptionally high level of ash content (8.6 and 8.8%, respectively) while moisture content varied from 8 to 11%.  相似文献
